Members of the Oasis Media consultancy team have won a six month contract to carry out the marketing, communications and media relations work for a new charity Skills - Third Sector.
Skills - Third Sector will provide the research, advocacy and training resources to support and build the capacity of all third sector organisations. It will perform many of the functions of a Skills and Learning Council for the Third Sector.
Over the next six months a team from Oasis Media will carry out the marketing, communications and media work to launch Skills - Third Sector and set the strategies and tools in place to carry this work forward.

Members of the Oasis Media consultancy team continue to work with The Reading Agency, the independent charity with a mission to inspire more people to read more. The communications and marketing-related work they have been carrying out includes generating attributable quotes and "case study" stories from readers involved with a variety of Reading Agency projects, including the Summer Reading Challenge for children, HeadSpace for young people, the Six Book Challenge for emergent adult readers and the Chatterbooks network of children's reading groups.
This work is helping The Reading Agency to "put a human face" on the work it carries out, and to prove the life-changing results that engaging with reading can achieve.

OM secures SPAB consultancy
Oasis Media is delighted to once again have been hired to work with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) on its 2009 National Maintenance Week awareness campaign, which will run from 20-27 November. Oasis Media consultants will once again be working to generate regional radio and newspaper coverage for SPAB's key maintenance messages. This follows a very successful 2008 regional media campaign.

Approved consultancy status for fifth year in a row
Oasis Media is delighted to have been awaded approved consultancy status from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) for the fifth year in a row.
The NCVO assesses all organisations applying to be in their directory and only those that meet their guidelines are accepted.

Events management and media consultancy services
Thomas Pocklington Trust’s 50th anniversary year has featured a very active programme of celebrations over recent months, for which Oasis Media has delivered hands-on event management and media consultancy services. Events have included:
- a tree planting ceremony and garden party led by BBC Radio 4 In Touch presenter Peter White at the Pocklington House specialist residential care home in Northwood, Middlesex for older people with sight loss
- the formal opening by marathon runner “Blind Dave” Heeley of Pocklington Place, Birmingham’s first extra care sheltered housing scheme for people with sight loss
- an open day at the Pocklington Resource Centre, Stourbridge attended by service users and local dignitaries
These events have provided important networking and profile-raising opportunities for Thomas Pocklington Trust. Media coverage has been secured in outlets as diverse as Caring Business magazine and website; Insight Radio for blind and partially sighted listeners; the Ealing Gazette and Wolverhampton Express and Star newspaper and the Inside Housing website.

Business development and fundraising advice
Oasis Media Consultants Nick Turner and Monica Hartwell have been working with EMACA (East Midlands African-Caribbean Arts) helping them develop a cohesive, sustainable business plan, incorporating a complementary marketing and fundraising strategy. The project, funded by an Arts Council grant, is enabling EMACA to sustain its commitment to providing opportunities for African Caribbean artists and performers to exhibit their work, whether in galleries, community centres, public spaces and on tour throughout the East Midlands, affirming and celebrating the distinctive cultural identity that links people of African-Caribbean descent.

Working with SPAB for another year
Oasis Media is delighted to once again have been hired to work with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) to generate regional media coverage for its annual National Maintenance Week campaign, which for 2008 will run from 21 to 28 November. This follows the success of last year's campaign, which yielded regional print media coverage with an estimated reach of 18 million readers, plus regional radio coverage.

Oasis Media secures BBC radio coverage for ACC
Oasis Media has recently successfully secured a series of BBC Radio 4 regional radio interviews for spokespeople from the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC).
Topics covered have included dealing with bereavement and loss during the festive season, and the current under-funding of counselling provision in the UK.
Oasis Media consultants have been working in the long-term to cement and grow the ACC’s reputation with radio media for providing authoritative comment on issues related to counselling and pastoral care. This has included media training for individual ACC spokespeople.

Oasis Media has once again gained extensive media coverage on behalf of SPAB
National Maintenance Week 2007 ran from 16 to 23 November, reminding anyone who looks after a building, regardless of its age, type or purpose, of the simple, achievable steps they can take to prepare for the worst that winter can bring. Oasis Media fulfilled its brief to generate widespread regional radio and newspaper interest on behalf of organisers SPAB (The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) with very positive client feedback.

The Reading Agency – five years old
Oasis Media successfully carried out the media work to celebrate The Reading Agency's fifth birthday on 8 November. A special event at London’s Royal Festival Hall saw the launch of The Reading Agency’s new visual identity, celebration of their major achievements in the fields of literacy and reading to date, together with major announcements regarding flagship activity into 2008 and beyond.
